The Arizona law that took effect on December 1, 2010 allows people to use (a) deregulated novelties and (b)
permissible consumer fireworks. It prohibits the use of fireworks that shoot rockets, flames, reports or anything else
into the air, or explodes. The law provides that it is now legal for companies with approved permits to sell fireworks that
fall into the (a) and (b) categories, and that anyone who is 16 or over can purchase them. The law also said that cities
and towns may restrict the use of consumer fireworks.

A resident who uses fireworks illegally is financially responsible for any damages under Flagstaff’s ordinance
