The United Summit Firefighters (USFF) L1505 is a chapter of the United Flagstaff
Firefighters (UFF) L1505. The Flagstaff Local 1505 was originally organized in
1969. Doney Park Firefighters joined the 1505 as a chapter in 1994 with twelve
members and Steve White as chapter VP. When the fire districts of Doney Park and
Timberline merged in May of 2001, we became the United Summit Firefighters.
Chapter VP Eric Lobstein and Treasurer Tim Steffen were a great influence in
campaigning for the merger which passed by an overwhelming majority vote. At the
time of becoming USFF our membership in the chapter was 18 people. As of
January 1, 2011, our membership is at 41 personnel. Preston Slayton is our
chapter VP, Reuben Gibbs Secretary Treasurer, Chris Fennell and Garret Hall are
Trustees.
Our chapter is involved in many different areas throughout the community. During
election times we have been a part of supporting different political candidates. We
are a proud supported of MDA and participate in annual Fill the Boot drives, MDA
bowl-a-thon and Lock-up events.
We also support local charities and families or union members in need. During
Thanksgiving and Christmas we sponsor families and group homes located in our
district by providing meals and gifts. We also offer community service to elderly,
disabled or needy members in our area. To help raise money for our charity
account we have an Annual Car Show that provides us with finances to assist others
when needed, but also gives us a project where everyone helps out.
Past Chapter VP and E-board members include: Steve White VP, Aaron Wells VP,
Eric Lobstein VP, Paul Simpson VP, Tim Steffen Treasurer, Carlos Luna Treasurer,
Mike Gillespie Treasurer, Fernando Hernandez Member Services. Without the
leadership and guidance from past and present Union leadership, Summit would not
be where it is today. Thanks to those of you who helped pave the way for the rest of
us for the present and the future.
