Summit Fire Department
Volunteering
Volunteers with the Summit Fire District fill several critical roles in the fulfillment of the mission of the District.
Each role involves the volunteer participating in operations, training and professional development alongside
career personnel. Summit Fire is committed to supporting its active volunteers in this arena.
Roles
Summit Volunteers may find that their roles will change depending on what certifications they have acquired.
Obtaining certifications in Arizona Fire Fighting 1 and 2, EMS as well as basic wildland fire fighting classes will
allow the volunteer to participate at many levels. Some individuals are considering a career in the fire service
and desire the training and experience that they can obtain as a volunteer. Others have no interest in either paid
work or pursuing a career in the fire service. What ever the particular circumstance, participation as a Summit
Volunteer is rewarding and exciting.
