We are sorry to report that at the current time, our funds for this
fiscal year have been cut for the Volunteer Program.
 Stay tuned
for more updates.

Volunteers with the Summit Fire District fill several critical roles
in the fulfillment of the mission of the District.  Each role involves
the volunteer participating in operations, training and professional
development alongside career personnel.  Summit Fire is committed
to supporting its active volunteers in this arena.

Roles

Summit Volunteers may find that their roles will change depending
on what certifications they have acquired.  Obtaining certifications
in Arizona Fire Fighting 1 and 2,  EMS as well as basic wildland fire
fighting classes will allow the volunteer to participate at many levels.
Some individuals are considering a career in the fire service and
desire the training and experience that they can obtain as a volunteer.
Others have no interest in either paid work or pursuing a career in
the fire service.  What ever the particular circumstance, participation
as a Summit Volunteer is rewarding and exciting.

How

To become a Summit Volunteer you must meet the following criteria:

Responsibilities

The Summit Volunteer program is reliant on their volunteers
participating in the daily activities that occur at the fire station
and within the district.  This will include but is not limited to running
calls, truck checks, station duties, training.  In addition, volunteers
are expected to participate in public education, open houses and
other special events. This is accomplished by signing up for either
volunteer time or for the “On Staff “ position which is a part time
paid position.  Volunteers are also asked to attend at least one
volunteer training per month.

Benefits and Support

Active volunteers participate in a Fire District supported retirement
/pension program.  Volunteers are provided with a pager for updates
and communications.  Volunteers are also provided with structural
and wildland personal protective equipment.  Active volunteers are
