| Introducing Squirt and Blaze! |
| At the Burn Educators Association's 22nd Annual Educational Characterization through Clowning and Puppetry camp, Blaze and Squirt spent four jam packed days learning how to reduce through educational clowning and characterization the loss of life, property and injuries caused by fire and or other emergency situations. This camp attracts fire departments’ educational teams from all over the country - not just from here in Arizona. They had the pleasure to meet and learn from Public Education teams from Texas, Utah, New Mexico, California, and Colorado to name just a few. The Pub Ed team is excited to help them build and grow a great new program and community resource for public education. While at the Bullhead City camp, they learned a lot about things that have worked and not worked for other departments concerning their clown programs and what values to stay true to. For example, as said on the Life and Fire Safety website: We are life and fire safety educators first, clowns, characters, and puppeteers second. We will maintain our educational objective by not doing birthday parties or other events that are for entertainment only; nor shall we use live fire or any other life threatening behavior that contradicts our educational goals and values. Please take a few minutes to take a look at the photos we have attached of Squirt and Blaze. Our photos were also recently in a newsletter from one of the clowning instructors from the bullhead camp. We are still developing our characters and what direction this program will be taking but Blaze and Squirt will be Spending time at the Home Show in March and the Summit Car Show in June passing on Life and Fire Safety messages to the community.
